A brief introduction to the Arabic language for non-native speakers

As part of a larger online teaching unit from the University of Pennsylvania Middle East Center called Marhaba, this is a small unit that introduces students to the Arabic language through using English cognates.  Students will learn the historical influence of Arab philosophers and Islamic world on European history and the remnants of it in our English language today.  Though the lesson is brief, it is easily integrated into language arts classes, literature classroom discussions as well as history and social studies classrooms.
