Arab and Islamic Names

Produced by

A brief overview of naming conventions in the Arab and Islamic world(s).

As part of a larger online teaching unit from the University of Pennsylvania Middle East Center called Marhaba, this is a small unit that explains the naming convention for Arabs and Muslims inside and outside of the Islamic world.  It is easily integrated into other teaching units on culture, global studies, teaching about religion and introducing components on Middle East studies.  The material is adaptable to numerous lesson plans that meet state and federal standards.
